Retaking
the Multistate Bar Exam
There are various reasons
why you might have to take the MBE (Multistate Bar Exam) and/or
the MPRE (Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam) more than
once. It can be due to needing a license in more than one state,
changing jurisdictions, or failing the first time.
For those of you who are moving, or need to become
licensed in a another state, you probably already went through a
bar review course when you graduated from law school. You may also
have taken the exam a while ago. If you're like most people, most
of what you learned to pass the bar exam first time has probably
faded a bit with time. If you're actively practicing, it's unlikely
that you will have the luxury of taking several weeks away from
your practice to attend one of the usual courses. It's also likely
that you're pretty familiar with at least some of topics tested
on the exam by virtue of having worked with them. What you now need
is something that will help you prep for the areas of law you haven't
practiced and prepare yourself again for the types of questions
you will face on the exam. You will also need to practice so you
can get your speed back up for the time constraints of the exam.
PassRite
MBE and MPRE are the perfect tools
for the job. There are plenty of written outlines that you can acquire
(you may have even saved them from your law school days) for the
areas of law that you haven't been working with. Combine those with
our interactive software products and you'll be ready for one or
more of the exams quickly and on your own schedule. You may need
to take the bar exam a second time, but we can help you make it
easier than it was the first time!
If you did not pass the bar the first time, you
are not alone. Statistics show that about 25% of people initially
fail. Most of those only miss by a few points. Many times this boils
down to a lack of speed in being able to recall the applicable rule
of law once you have identified the salient facts and the call of
the question. Perhaps you just felt rushed and got panicky because
the clock was ticking. You may also have had some trouble narrowing
down the best answer to the questions.
Most bar review prep materials have lengthy and
involved explanations about why the correct answer is the best choice
and why the others are not. In contrast, our answers will prepare
you for recalling the correct rules of law quickly. Remember - on
the Multistate exams you don't have time or space to explain anything.
All you can do is recall the best rule of law that applies to the
question and move on as quickly as possible. On the average, you
get about one minute to read a fact pattern and pick the best answer
out of 4 choices.
You need to read fast, stay focused on finding the
important facts, spot the issue, and identify the best answer. Spending
time thinking about why an answer choice is wrong doesn't help your
score - it's only the right one that counts. Overthinking
all the possible choices presented to you will just slow you down.
If you have a set of "flash card rules" already in your
mind which you can retrieve quickly, you have a better chance of
recalling and correctly applying those rules. The right answer to
the question is exactly what PassRite
MBE and MPRE interactive software
gives you - AND at a price
that won't break your budget.
